What fun it has been to spend a Friday night reading this and looking at all your glorious roses. Modern life is so fast and everything seems to be about doing things the easy and most practical way, what a lovely change of pace to see beautiful linens and lovely china and truly inviting homes. Thanks for the breath of fresh air and break of cookie cutter decorating. |

Joanne wrote: | | I found your beautiful home's pics on RMS and found your blog. I am totally new at this -- just started looking at blogs this week. Yours is by far my absolute favorite. My home used to be a lot like yours but now it is more traditional with more old-world touches but I love to still look at homes with your style. Besides owning my own handbag and jewelry business, my favorite thing to do is go garage saling. Oh, the treasures that I have found and the knowledge that there is always another treasure right around the corner!! I would love to start my own blog (to show my found treasures, my business, my home, etc.) but I have absolutely no idea how it's done. Guess I'm going to have learn something new. |
decorator101 wrote: | | I discovered your blog today. Love it.. I can tell you have a lot of fun redoing the treasures that you find. There is so much love put into them. Can't wait to catch the update tomorrow. I must get back to the work at hand around here. DH is gone for the next 2 weeks and I've got to make every moment count. I'll be checking in again. Hugs to you . Lynne |
Sharon wrote: | | Hi Cindy,
I'm not a blogger. Don't like most of them but had to write and tell you that yours is the best and most useful I have ever read. It is also the most attractive one I've seen. How did you create such a beautiful site? I recently read about your paint technique for the bed you painted (gorgeous by the way) and tried the idea when I painted a bookshelf for my daughters house. I painted it red but used your idea of the brown craft paint to give it a rustic finish. I then put on a coat of paste wax as you recommended. It turned out nice although the wax gave it a shinier finish than I would want if I were doing something like the finish you got on your bed. I'd like to try a dresser in aged white with the technique. How can I achieve a satin rather than shiny finish?
Thanks for sharing your talent. We appreciate you out here. |

rondell konat wrote: | | Love your blog....although I decorate prim I still use your ideas on how-tos. Loved the way you added the lace to your toilet and how you painted your hutch...just everything. Also just bought the Alpha Hi Droxey at Rite Aid and on sale. So you see you don't have to decorate in the romantic style to enjoy your blog which I read everyday! Thanks and keep up the great work. |

Amber I. M. wrote: | | I love this blog. I love the step-by-step details, but also how down to earth it is. It's not "I bought this reproduction antique for $1,000..." It's "I found this cracked and dirty mirror for $3, painted it, and now it looks like it's a real $1,000 antique..." It gives new meaning to the quote "A home must be made, not bought." -Joyce Maynard. |

Pam Pitts wrote: | | This is the first blog that I became hooked on. She is talented and the fact that the decorating projects are completed with a thrifty eye and a thin-ish wallet allows the readers to imagine our own 'romantic home'. Then the instructions show that we don't have to imagine anymore. Thanks, Cindy. |

Sharon Sarandos wrote: | | Just clicked onto your site and love it. Yes, indeed you have a gift of making a wonderful home for your family. Don't you love most of the antique shop owners when you are out of town shopping and start talking and thinking "I wish they lived closer and we were able to do fun things together"? I live in a tiny town between Dallas and Houston but also am very lucky to have a lot of wonderful friend but none that live close by. We have a small ranch and have a few cows, cats and dogs, big yard and good size house full of way too many collectables! I will be having a home and garden tour the beginning of June and have a million things to do to get ready forit. I told the girl in charge that it should be described as a 'lesson in what not to do' or a'hit and miss'garden and home tour! I really know very little about gardening but do know over the years what works here with the crazy Texas weather! Just to tell you what I am up against thought the red tip trees in the front yard were looking pretty good until I realized that all five have webworms and need to be cut down. I can't enjoy stuff thinking about the dust or spiders or duribility of something! My husband says why can't we be like a lot of people -just sit back and bar-b-que in a yard that looks like a city dump-they seem happy! Anyway, I really got off the subject-wish you lived close by -I know we would be wonderful friends! Sharon |
